On the way to Katherine from Kakadu, we had a lunch break at Edith Falls. There was a group from a 4WD tour there, heading off to Kakadu. We had lunch at Edith and then went for a swim. The falls were lovely and the water was just the right temperature as it got a bit deeper. The shallow water was warm. The 3 older kids swam out to the falls, with the little girls frolicked in the shallows with Mum and Dad watching us all. We scrambled all over the rocks, and after doing a depth check, found the perfect place to jump. The rocks were boiling hot, and everybody had burnt feet by the end of it. We then headed off to Katherine.
While in Katherine we stayed at Knotts Crossing Resort. Despite having an ensuite, it was the cheapest caravan park in town. In the morning, Joel locked the ensuite key in the bathroom. He luckily managed to scramble in and unlock the door. No more ensuites for us!
We kayaked down Katherine Gorge with our kayaks. The parents didn't go as there wasn't enough kayaks. We had to hire one for Bethany as there was only 2 kayaks between the 5 of us. Joel caught the biggest fish that he had ever caught, and the fish towed him up and down the gorge. It was a catfish. The high walls on either side of us awed us into silence (only sometimes, the rest of the time we were probably a bit loud).
