Memories of Mildura
When we finally crossed into another state after 2 months, we decided that the car and caravan needed a good scrub in honour of the occasion. After we had finished, we all agreed that our Transit looked as good as new! The windows on the caravan were also much cleaner. We were staying about 10min out of Mildura, as we needed to have a few repairs done. We also needed to restock. Our camp was right on the river and we got some rope to make a rope swing.
The next day we decided to go to a church that we saw on the way into Mildura. However we couldn’t find it, but on the way back to our caravan, we saw a church and the service time was 10:30. It was a great service but a different experience as they had a translator that translated the message into Chinese for some Chinese students that stayed with the church families.
After we had gotten back the boys set at making a rope swing with a lot of determination. They needed it. After trying a lot of ways and taking up most of the day they finally did it.
It was however a little too cold to go jumping (as well as too shallow) so the next day the boys added a bottom stick and we swung from it.
It was really fun and the boys agreed it was worth all the time and effort.
We went to Wentworth which was just across the border into NSW. At Wentworth we saw where the Darling river meets the Murray river and also the old jail.

Our favourite camp spot:
Horseshoe Bend (Merbein) – East end of town via River Ave and Old Wentworth Rd. Camp sites beside the river. We used our generator. There are toilet facilities. We used our portable gas shower. Our family enjoyed camping right beside the river – very scenic. Joel (14) loved the fishing prospects. Josh (16), Joel(14) and Bethany (13) made a rope swing. Lots of fun swinging out and jumping into the water!

We really enjoyed Old Wentworth Gaol. It was extremely interesting. The little girls (6 and 3) and Bethany (12) both dressed up as prisoners. I think they were a little happy for being prisoners in jail.
